Anthony DeMond is curently the EMS medical director for ground transports in La Plata County. He works with the county fire districts and the Durango Airport fire dept on their EMS policies and skills. He began his medical career in 1978 at Cornell University Medical College in NYC and then crossed the country to do his residency in emergency medicine at Los Angeles County University of Southern California Medical Center. He worked for four years at Gallup Inidan Medical Center before moving to Durango in 1989. In 2006 he retired from the emergency department at Mercy Medical Center to work full time in EMS. He is married to a Navajo jewelry maker, Rita Keeman, and has four children by marriage and six grandchildren. His own ethnicity is multi-racial.
